Ski clothing - how to choose the right one? Choosing ski clothes and accessories Rating of ski suits for women

What is a membrane? How many pockets should there be? What kind of fasteners should there be? How to properly care? Where can I buy?

Compiling a review of clothing for winter sports - what could be simpler, it would seem? What's so hard about putting together several jackets and trousers, pairing them with colorful pom-pom hats, gloves and mittens? But I could not even imagine how global my delusion was. After a long study of forums and websites, looking at photographs of satisfied friends on snow-covered slopes and polling acquaintances, it became clear that the most problems arise with the choice of clothing for snowboarding and alpine skiing. An unsuccessfully selected kit can discourage a beginner from riding and frustrate an experienced rider who has high hopes for the new season. There is enough material for a number of articles, and the first one is devoted to choosing a snowboard and ski jacket.

Autumn-winter collection of the Icepeak brand.

What to look for?

The basic requirements for clothing for riding are lightness, warmth, practicality, water and wind resistance. A snowboard jacket is usually larger in size than a ski jacket - this is their main difference, and other parameters are approximately the same. When trying on a jacket, you need to zip it up completely and raise your arms up - the clothes should not restrict movement or ride up. It is better to pay attention to things in bright colors and with reflective stripes, which will help you to be visible among the snow and in poorly lit places.

What else is worth paying attention to?

1. Laser perforation on the collar is necessary for ventilation, the same usually happens in the armpit area.
2. The zipper must be impregnated with a special compound so that it does not get wet.
3. Zipper pulls should be large and non-metallic so that they are easy to unfasten while wearing gloves.
4. Cuffs should be double-layered, the inner one made of fleece or Polartek or Lycra, the outer one made of elastic with flaps with buttons or Velcro.

5. Snowboard jackets should have a large hood to fit over a helmet, while ski jackets should have a small hood. The visor will protect from snowfall, and the side wings and transparent windows will protect from the wind.
6. The inside of the collar should be made of polartek or fleece, which quickly removes moisture.
7. The lining of the jacket should be made of synthetic or semi-natural materials that easily absorb moisture and dry quickly.
8. The seams must be taped and reinforced with special tape.
9. Pockets should be located on the sides, on the chest for a phone or walkie-talkie, on the sleeve for a ski pass and inside for documents.
10. Buttons inside the jacket are necessary for fastening trousers, so snow will not get under your clothes.
11, 12. The inner skirt and elastic fasteners should protect from snow.

Label

The presence of a membrane is considered important - this is an internal covering of the fabric or a special weave of threads, thanks to which water does not pass inside, and body evaporation is easily removed outside.

The water resistance of the membrane is indicated in millimeters and means how much water the jacket will withstand during the day.

3000 mm is the minimum value at which the jacket can be worn in snow or light rain; this indicator is more applicable to an urban environment than on the slopes.

10000 mm is the average value at which the jacket will not get wet in heavy rain and snow.

30000 mm is the maximum value at which the jacket can withstand extreme weather conditions.

Vapor permeability is determined in grams of water, which is the fabric area of 1 square. m. passes in 24 hours.

5000 g/sq.m. – average, suitable for traditional skating.

10000 g/sq.m. – the maximum indicator applicable for professional sports.

The best fabrics are Goretex, Dermizax, Pertex, Prooface, MemBrain, PreClip. Their water resistance is at least 20,000 mm, and their breathability is about 6,000 g/sq.m.

The outside of the fabric is coated with an additional water-repellent DWR layer, thanks to which water does not absorb, but rolls off the surface of the jacket. This coating is short-lived, but it can be updated using special products sold in snowboard or ski equipment stores.

A few words about care: jackets need to be washed by hand using special products or, in extreme cases, laundry soap. Such clothes should not be ironed, otherwise the outer fabric may be damaged.

Where to buy?

When choosing a jacket, you should first decide on its purpose. The equipment of an avid rider will not be useful for a beginner, and elegant jackets will not suit athletes who spend most of the day on the slopes. Clothes that are comfortable to ride in, for example, in the Moscow region, will not withstand the load in the mountains, where there is strong humidity.

Among snowboarders, clothes from the brands Burton, 686, DC, Quiksilver, Bonfire, and Volcom are popular. Skiers choose items from the brands Bogner, Schoffel, Rossignol, Icepeak, The North Face, and Phenix. Russian companies Baon, Red Fox, Bask, Stayer have also proven themselves well among lovers of outdoor activities - clothes are made from high-quality materials and are quite affordable.

Experienced riders prefer to order clothes from online stores, based on technical specifications. For beginners, it’s better to go to specialized stores, such as “Kant”, “Trial Sport”, where salespeople will help you choose the first set.

When going on vacation to the mountains, we all ask the same question: how to choose the right ski suit and shoes for skiing? This issue of equipment is perhaps the most important, so renting skis or a snowboard today is not difficult. But you need to approach the choice of clothes with all responsibility. After all, if the suit is chosen well, the skier feels more comfortable while skiing, which means the likelihood of injury decreases.

Which ski suit to choose?

When we enter a sportswear store, we are faced with a real choice of a specific item. Ski jacket, pants, hat, overalls, gloves, thermal underwear, etc. - all these clothes come in different styles, quality, sizes and, of course, prices.

To decide which ski suit to choose, it is worth considering its existing types. Among them we highlight:

  • suits for single-season skating;
  • suits for regular walks;
  • suits for professional skiers.

This classification is determined by the skill level of the skier. If a person is an amateur and engages in descent from ideal slopes, there is no point in buying an expensive suit. But for fans of extreme descents, every detail of the suit is important: size, material, quality, design. The mountains do not forgive mistakes, and therefore even the slightest defect can play a cruel joke against the skier. Therefore, before choosing ski clothes and buying them, you need to decide on your goals: do you need a suit for a long time, are you going to ski professionally or do you need a walking suit? Having decided on the goal, proceed to study the parameters by which the selection of a suit is carried out.

Criteria for choosing ski clothing

When choosing equipment, it is worth remembering that on a ski holiday your body is exposed to high temperatures, wind, snow, moisture and even rain. A ski jacket or pants should keep you warm when it’s cold, and remove sweat in a timely manner when it’s hot. A vacuum should not form inside the ski suit, otherwise the body will “cook” in it. Therefore, clothes must be the right size and style.

Ski jackets are often made from fabrics based on lucre fiber. This material is durable, lightweight and retains heat well. Its water resistance is 5 thousand mm, and its vapor resistance is 5 thousand g/sq.m for 24 hours. Therefore, if you are wondering how to choose a ski suit for walking, then buying a product based on this material is the right decision.

Pants, overalls, and jackets with insulation are made from fabrics based on taslan and duspa fibers. All of them should consist of three layers:

  • First layer (inner) allows the body to breathe;
  • Second layer (insulation) warms the body. Must be made of natural down or non-fabric material. It is not recommended to buy suits with synthetic filling, as it does not allow the skin to “breathe” and after the first wash it loses 30% of its qualities.
  • Third layer (protective) is obliged to protect the skier from cold, wind, snow, rain, steam. This layer must be made of the most durable and high-quality material.

All these three layers must meet the criteria of being waterproof and windproof. To maintain these qualities, membrane fabrics are used. They are rough to the touch. The membrane can be located either on the inside of the ski jacket or located between the first and second layers. If the membrane is made on the basis of impregnation, such a suit will be poorly ventilated, the body will steam or freeze. If you are afraid of buying a fake, carefully study the product label. The manufacturer always indicates the contents of the suit and materials. By the name you can determine the characteristics of the membrane. Among them we will highlight only the main ones:

  • eVENT membrane: water resistance – 30,000 mm, vapor permeability – up to 29,000 g/sq. m/24 hours. Removes moisture well and keeps the temperature at the proper level.
  • XtremeXtension membrane: water resistance 10,000 mm and vapor permeability 10,000 g/sq. m/24 hours. Washable well and has a dirt-repellent effect.
  • Lithion and Podium membranes from the Authentic series: water resistance – 8000 mm, vapor permeability – 7,000 g/sq.m. m/24 h.

The style and design of a ski suit is no less important than the material from which it is made. A high-quality suit must have:

  • snow skirt, hood, collar, cuffs on the sleeves;
  • thermostatic zippers;
  • pockets of varying depths;
  • mounts for ski passes and keys;
  • adjustable drawstrings on pants and jacket;
  • Perfectly even seams, without defects in cutting and sewing.

How to choose the size of a ski suit?

The question of how to choose a ski suit concerns not only the choice of style, design and material of clothing, but also the size. To correctly determine the size, you need to take a measuring tape and take all the measurements.

The size of the jacket is determined as follows:

  • We measure the width of the shoulders at the highest point of the shoulders. Usually it is located 2 - 3 cm below the neck line.
  • We measure the circumference of the chest and waist.
  • Determine the length of the sleeve. We lower the measuring tape from the base of the shoulder to the hand.
  • The back length is determined by measuring the distance from point A (the transition of the neck to the shoulder) to point B (the end of the product).

We select trousers according to the following indicators:

  • The width of the belt is the circumference of the body at the navel.
  • Hip circumference - measured at the highest points of the buttocks. If you need to determine the half-girth, the result must be divided in half.
  • Belt height is an indicator that is measured from the waist to the crotch.
  • The length of the product is measured at the center of the front side of the pants, from the highest point to the lowest point.
  • Crotch stitch – is carried along the inner side seam of ski pants, from the groin to the lowest point.

When measuring, you should add 1 cm to each indicator, since you will wear thermal underwear and other clothes under the ski suit.

Some of the listed parameters - for example, the height of the belt or the length of the product along the back - will not be needed directly to determine the size. But if you order a ski suit from an online store. Be sure to ask the seller for these indicators and compare them with your own.

Choosing the best ski clothes today is like choosing cool electronics: difficult, expensive, but worth it.

Even if you are still a beginner in alpine skiing, it is not at all necessary to demonstrate this to others. By the way, this is easier than it seems: you just need to put on a bunch of useless clothes, get wet and freeze in them. Or - a luxurious sheepskin coat, the fur collar of which will be visible three miles away, and still get wet and cold parallel to the unctuous smiles of experienced skiers.

Simply put, ski clothing is your powerful weapon in the fight for a healthy and successful holiday. To make this happen, let’s figure out how to choose ski equipment.

First of all, remember the main thing - the ski outfit should consist of: 3 layers.

  1. We remove moisture from the body. This is done through the first, inner layer - linen and lining in contact with the skin.
  2. Keeping warm. The second layer is the insulation of the suit itself and all sorts of sweater vests.
  3. Defending ourselves. From rain, snow, wind and other delights. The third layer is the suit material.

Now let's look at these characteristics in action.

Lingerie

High-quality underwear eliminates sweat, “transferring” it to a protective layer, and also retains heat.

Thermal underwear for winter sports is made from modern synthetics, which allows the skin to breathe, but dries quickly, preventing the growth of bacteria.

These indicators depend on the materials in the composition:

  • polyester most often found in today's thermal underwear. Excellent heat retention and moisture removal;
  • polypropylene copes with moisture better than polyester, but has a more fragile structure;
  • They say that polypropylene rolls more actively than polyester. In fact, pilling is characteristic of any linen, because it absorbs the smell of sweat and is washed often.

  • merino wool(sheep) is an excellent option, especially in combination with synthetics. Hypoallergenic wool insulates well and wicks away moisture, ideal for low temperatures.

Thermal underwear is often treated with impregnations with antibacterial properties. There is no point in deluding yourself, much less putting this quality as a priority: impregnation disappears after 4-5 washes.

The best underwear for a ski holiday– multi-layered: several synthetic materials or synthetic + natural.

Even if it was 20-layer, thermal underwear should:

  1. Have as few seams as possible.
  2. Perfect fit. If the first layer sags, there is no point in it at all.

If you decide to wear regular underwear - shorts and a T-shirt - forget about cotton. It does not transfer moisture well, which means it gets wet quickly.

Socks

This applies to them too. In general, most manufacturers do not even produce socks, but knee socks - a very successful variation.

Among the materials– a combination of artificial (polyamide, polypropylene, polyacrylic) and natural fabrics (cotton, wool).

High-quality socks wick moisture away without getting wet. And, of course, they have antibacterial properties, fighting the smell of sweat.

In especially fragile and freezing places, ski socks should be sealed and insulated - these are the toes, heels and shins.

Even here there are some bells and whistles– There are socks on sale with massage inserts that increase blood circulation in the legs.

Prices

A quality set of thermal underwear for skiing cannot cost less 3000 rub. The cost is determined by complex production and high-tech materials.

Optimal price for a shirt-underpants set – 5000-6000 rub..

Average cost of socks – 800-1500 rub..

Insulation materials

It is better to purchase an insulating layer separately: a ski jacket with “built-in” insulation can make you sweat a fair amount even at average temperatures.

Regarding materials:

Pooh. It is assessed by “elasticity”: the best indicator is 750 units. Down has a serious drawback - when it gets wet, it “falls off” and does not retain heat. To avoid this, of course, it is impregnated with special compounds, but this by no means makes it a leader.

Sintepon. Nowadays it is almost never used: this material does not “breathe” well and after the first wash it loses about 30% of its thermal properties.

Fleece. Well suited as insulation: it retains your heat, removes moisture from your laundry and does not hinder your movements.

Polartek. Polyester variation: provides “dry” heat due to ventilation and low moisture absorption coefficient.

Thinsulate. Probably the best insulation material today:

  • synthetic down substitute combining polyester and polyophine fibers;
  • durable;
  • almost does not absorb moisture;
  • reliably retains heat;
  • after 15 washes it loses up to 10% of its thermal properties.

Costume

The third layer - a jacket with pants or overalls - is characterized by:

  • waterproof(mm in. Art.) - an indicator of the water pressure that the material can hold before leaking;
  • vapor permeability(g/m2/day) – the amount of steam per square meter that the material passes per day.

To avoid getting wet in light snowfall or frost, the suit must be at least waterproof 2000 mm h. st.

The “medium” option for waterproof/vapor permeability for good speeds and stable loads is 10000/10000.

Suitable for heavy snowfall and virgin snow skiing 5000-10000 mm h. st., for extreme skiing – from 20000.

Vapor permeability at low loads can be 5000 g/m2/day, with average – 10000 , with intense – 20000 .

But remember about the characteristics of your body: you can sweat a lot even when walking normally, take this into account when choosing indicators.

Suits with the addition of a membrane (membrane layer) have the best performance.

There are 3 types of membranes:

  1. Hydrophilic (non-spore) They operate on the principle of diffusion: enough condensate accumulates on the surface of the membrane to saturate the fabric and remove moisture out. Poreless membrane suits are always “a little damp.” It does not protect well at low temperatures and high humidity. But it is excellent for medium temperatures, durable, elastic and does not require careful care.
  2. Pore membranes They work using tiny pores through which a molecule of steam, but not water, passes. This option is not suitable for warm and rainy weather, and is also notorious for its fragility. But it functions ideally in the cold, when the body heats up.
  3. Combined membranes today they are considered the best among their membrane colleagues, although they combine all their pros and cons. Something like: high wear resistance, water resistance and stretch properties, along with high cost, poor performance in high humidity and low temperatures. However, for extreme conditions, skiers prefer this type of clothing due to its excellent vapor permeability and water resistance.

In parts

Previously, ski overalls were considered better than jackets and pants because they provided better protection from snow.

Modern jackets do this no worse: they are tightened at the bottom and at the waist, and have an internal “skirt” with elastic.

More comfortable to ride in a jacket and trousers: if it gets hot, you can take off the top, and it’s easier to move in a set.

Ski pants can be high (with straps, in the form of a jumpsuit) and low (to the waist, like regular ones).

High ones protect more reliably from snow and allow you to choose a jacket of any length. Accordingly, with low pants it is better to choose a long jacket.

Remember important costume details:

  • all zippers should move freely, and the “tabs” should be large and non-slip, so that they can be easily removed with gloves;
  • The jacket's zipper must be closed with a flap on the outer and inner sides to prevent drafts;
  • There should be as many pockets as possible, preferably with zippers;
  • Sleeve cuffs must close simply and securely to prevent snow from getting in;
  • ideal if the jacket has a loop for gloves;
  • the collar inside should be lined with fleece so that the face does not get chapped;
  • it would be good if there was a hood sewn into the collar;
  • the seams must be reinforced (taped) with tape against moisture;
  • Look for clothing with the "RECCO" patch - this is a reflector for first responders in case of emergency.

Prices

A good ski suit is not a cheap pleasure. Even more. But you can’t save on it, you don’t want to ride in uncomfortable conditions, get sick, throw away your suit after each season and generally look unpresentable? Same thing.

But beginner skiers shouldn’t go to the other extreme - they simply don’t need expensive equipment bells and whistles.

The price range is extremely wide, as you already understood, depending on the materials and various bells and whistles.

The jacket alone can cost 30000-90000 rub.. Women's models are usually more expensive - from 45,000 rub.. Particularly “refined” models can cost around 190,000 rub..

High-quality men's trousers, including those in the form of overalls, will cost 20000-50000 rub.., female – in 20000-70000 rub..

The overalls, unlike the set, will cost a little less.

Beware of fakes! It's cliche, but it's true. Of course, imitations of expensive brands can be bought for 5,000 rubles per set, but there can be no talk of any comfort compared to the originals.

Buy only in trusted stores - branded boutiques or online sports supermarkets.

If you see:

  • low quality or lack of tags and packaging;
  • alarming design of the logo (irregularities, threads);
  • lack of information about technologies and composition;
  • “left” zippers (most world brands use YKK zippers);
  • unpresentable appearance of the material and product,

run away from this store.

Care

Membrane suits become clogged over time due to sweat salts, this also applies to down. Therefore, such clothes need to be washed once a season.

But remember: Membrane clothing cannot be washed in a washing machine or with regular powder - its structure is too fragile.

Wash such things you need special means, and check possible washing methods with your consultant.

Not membrane, but It’s better not to wash a “soaked” jacket at all: impregnation under the influence of chemicals rolls off, and the waterproof properties of clothing disappear.

Dry your clothes after each ride, but not on a heater or radiator.

Don't dry clean your suit: external contaminants will, of course, be removed there, but the membrane will deteriorate.

Perhaps they will inspire you to achieve achievements. The list is below the picture.

After reading, you can learn how to snowboard.

Other elements of ski equipment

Gloves

Choose the material, the lining, and the seam - everything is important. Go for the warmest model.

It should be long enough, made of thick fabric, with stripes and leather inserts, and convenient fastening.

These gloves will protect your fingertips from freezing, keep snow and water out, and allow you to hold your poles tightly.

Advanced models have carbon protection for the fingers, wrist and hand.

Helmet

Not all skiers prefer to wear it, regardless of experience.

But helmets for children are a mandatory element for many resorts, and rightly so.

The perfect helmet should fit you in size and be lightweight.

You can get by without a helmet if you don't ride near trees. But the opportunity to refuse it comes with a risk for which you yourself will bear responsibility.

The necessary accessories and care products for ski optics should always be available. And even more so the decorations. Do you all want to stand out from the other skiers on the slope? Consider the details carefully:

Glasses in different modifications - protect from blinding light (mirror) and snow.

Or mask(if you wear prescription glasses) - to also protect your face from impacts. It can also be darkened or colored.

A cap- under the helmet it should be thin, without a helmet - warm, lined with fleece, covering the ears. In any case, the hat should fit securely on the head and protect from drafts.

Ski clothing for children

The “3-layer rule” and recommendations for selection also apply to children's ski equipment.

The only thing is to choose pants rather than overalls:

  • it is more difficult to run to the toilet in overalls;
  • the child will quickly grow out of it;
  • The jacket and pants can be worn separately, not only at the resort.

Children's jackets are also equipped with a snow-protective drawstring, which will protect the lower back from gusts of wind.

And the pants have a high back for the same purposes.

A children's ski suit will cost 4000-10000 rub..

Now, armed with knowledge, take the hands of your family and go straight to the sports store. Sly sellers of low-quality ski clothing and marketing tricks will no longer affect you.

Winter is a wonderful time of year... Especially when you are at a ski resort enjoying the snow, sun and adrenaline rush. But so that your vacation is not overshadowed by various minor troubles, you need to prepare for it in advance. And today we’ll talk about what you should pay attention to when choosing clothes.

Ski jacket

Let's start with choosing a ski jacket. There are a lot of manufacturers of ski clothing on the modern market, but there are several basic criteria, based on which you can choose a ski jacket of good quality and at an affordable price for you. Of course, these are not quilted Mex jackets, so the main thing here is not beauty, but comfort and warmth.

Waterproof. This is one of the most important criteria that determines how long the jacket will not get wet, the dimensional unit is “mm”. The minimum value should be at least 5000, but in this case it is worth remembering that the jacket will get wet in heavy snow within a couple of hours. It is better to choose a ski jacket with a water resistance of 10,000 mm or higher.

Vapor permeability. This indicator characterizes how effectively the ski jacket membrane will remove moisture from the body, dimensional unit “g/m2/24h”. The minimum value should be at least 5000, but it is better to choose a model with a vapor permeability level of 1000 or higher.

Insulation. Dimensional unit “g/m2”. Here it is worth clarifying that when choosing a ski jacket, you also need to choose whether it will be a down jacket (the insulation material is down), or a ski jacket with synthetic insulation (they usually have waterproof/vapor permeability indicators higher than their down counterparts, thanks to high technology of these materials). Here you need to choose based on your activity; the lower the density, the less warm the jacket. For down jackets, only the insulation material is usually indicated, without density. For jackets with synthetic lining, the minimum insulation density is 40 g/m2, the maximum is 100 g/m2.

When the density of the sleeve differs from the main part, this is indicated. Well, conditionally, the density of the insulation can be determined by touch: the denser and heavier the ski jacket, the warmer it is. - Mandatory additions. A ski jacket must have a snow-protective “skirt”; in critical places the seams must be taped; ventilation in the armpits (with a zipper) will be a plus. It is better to choose a jacket with a full hood.

Size. You can easily select the size according to the size chart provided by the manufacturer (if you order through an online store), although it is better, of course, to measure. Please remember that skiing is INJURY DANGEROUS, so do not neglect protective equipment. If you are going to use protection (back protection, ankle pads), then it is better to choose a ski jacket half a size or a size larger (ski clothing, unlike snowboard clothing, is quite fitted).

Price. The price range is quite wide, but you shouldn't buy a ski jacket for less than $200.

Ski pants

The selection criteria are the same as for the jacket, but with some amendments.

Waterproof. It should be quite high, especially if you are a beginner athlete. So it’s better to stop at an indicator no lower than 10,000 mm.

Vapor permeability from 5000 g/m2/24h.

The insulation is usually 40 g/m2, no more is required, because you will be wearing thermal underwear. - Among the additional options, it is nice to have ventilation on the outside or inside of the trousers (with a zipper), detachable suspenders, protection of the inside of the trousers from abrasion (it is made of a denser material), internal snow gaiters (with an elastic band made of non-wetting fabric). Almost all models of ski pants now have contoured knees.

With the arrival of winter, people not only go to warm countries to lie in the sun for the New Year holidays, but also go to ski resorts to fully experience all the delights

Experienced skiers are already aware of everything they may need, but for beginners it is easy to forget something or not take it into account. For those who are finally going to a ski resort for the first time, you need to know a few rules.

First, you need to decide on the country and the availability of trails of varying difficulty. Of course, a beginner needs to choose the easiest route. In European countries it is indicated in green.

This route is characterized by a smooth descent, intended for normal skiing or sledding. On such routes the speed does not increase.

Trails of medium difficulty are marked in red. They have a steep descent and uneven terrain. These routes are for those skiers who are already quite good at skiing and can turn off when necessary, slow down, and so on.

The most difficult trails are black. Only professionals are allowed to attend.

So, having chosen a country, a resort and a route, you need to choose clothes for skiing. Ordinary warm winter clothes will not work, since they are heavy, you will quickly sweat in them, then the wind will blow over you and that’s it - the vacation is over because you will definitely get sick.

To prevent this, you need to choose a women's ski suit and clothes to go with it according to all the rules. To do this, it is advisable to go to a specialized ski suit store, and not to the market, and get advice from the seller.

It is better to choose overalls and a jacket. It is possible to choose a set consisting of overalls and a jacket, or select items separately. Ski jackets are available in a huge range of colors, so there will be plenty to choose from. By the way, the women's one is also useful for cold Russian winters, not only for downhill skiing.

So, the suit should allow moisture to escape, but under no circumstances allow it to get inside. This is its main purpose. It must also be resistant to wind, that is, it must not allow cold to pass through, but rather repel it. A women's ski suit may have a hood (which is preferable), or it may not have one. It's up to you to decide.

It is important to pay attention to the coefficients of moisture resistance and vapor permeability. These are very important indicators; the higher they are, the stronger and more reliable the ski set is. These coefficients are measured in millimeters per square meter over 24 hours of fabric use. When going to a ski suit store, it is important to “show off” your knowledge so that the consultants understand that you are in the know.

Having chosen a good women's ski suit, you need to check that all the seams are neat and have all the stitching. It also doesn’t hurt to check all the “runners” for serviceability, since you are unlikely to want to change them later, and if at the most crucial moment on the highway your “zip” breaks, it will be extremely disappointing and annoying. It is also important that there are pockets with clasps so that you can put things there without losing them while moving.

There is no need to skimp on ski suits, as they keep you warm and make you feel light and comfortable.

There is no need to buy equipment on your first trip - you can rent it upon arrival. You may not want to ride anymore, so it’s better to buy equipment next time if the desire still persists. You can just try it on the track and choose the appropriate option for yourself.
